Tea Education

I have asked so many different people about Tea education. I wanted to be a Tea Sommelier and found that there are a few classes that are offered. However, there are also a lot of people that put no value in them. So, here is a list of what I plan to do for my path:

1. Tea classes. There is an online course for a Tea Master certification at Udemy that is discounted for a short time. I am taking that I am hoping will familiarize me with the material in any other courses I might take. Here are some programs that are available:

2. Books. I noticed that there are a lot of books that are common amongst tea lovers and have started to make a list. Here are a few:

3. Tea friends! I LOVE the Steepster community. I made a few tea friends and have posted discussion topics. I have always gotten positive and constructive feedback. It’s always nice to have people to ask questions. There are other tea communities, this is just my favorite. Here is a list from World of Tea:
Badger and Blade Forums http://badgerandblade.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=90
Leafbox Tea Forums: http://leafboxtea.com/forum
Tea Subreddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/tea/

Tea Advisor: http://teaadvisor.com/
Rec.Food.Drink.Tea: http://groups.google.com/group/rec.food.drink.tea/topics
Tea Chat: http://www.teachat.com/
Twitter: Using the hash-tag #tea http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23tea
Steepster: http://steepster.com/discuss

4. The internet! I Google everything! A lot of times there is conflicting information (tsp vs grams, steep time, etc.), so it might end up being trial and error or just what makes more sense according to your experiences. Either way, the more you know, the better of a decision you can make. I would rather know wrong information and why it’s wrong and then find the correct information than only have the correct information. This way, when someone else believes the wrong information I can tell them why they are wrong and what is correct. Just me.

I hope this helps!! This blog is really a documentation of my journey to learn and understand tea and I know it is never-ending. I hope we can learn together!!
