I got the Salted Caramel, which I had always wanted to try, but was never brave enough. Today, I thought I would grow some balls.
I am not always a fan of salted caramel because I think it is a fine line balancing act. Either it’s too sweet (a problem I am not fond of) or too salty (I equally dislike). But, this is gelato and any magic is possible. I tried it and, of course, it was creamy and light. However, as I suspected, it was a little sweeter than I would have liked. It wasn’t overwhelming, just enough for me to think that I shouldn’t get it again. The salt wasn’t too bad, it was subtle and I actually liked it. I had just hoped that the caramel was toned down a tad. But, it wasn’t horrible, I just won’t be buying it again. Not when there are so many other amazing flavors!
If you have a sensitivity to sugar, this won’t be horrible for you. You’ll just want to make sure you don’t eat a ton of it. For me, it helps if I fill up on a nice dinner and then share the smallest size with someone. This flavor does contain dairy, so if that is a trigger food or you are lactose intolerant, I would ask about other options. They have some really great sherbets that you should consider!
