Part of my IBS flare is that I vomit for about a day. It isn’t the occasional here and there urge. It is very similar to food poisoning and needing to expel whatever is in my stomach. It gets tiring, in and of itself. Sure, I’m used to it by now. But, that doesn’t change the fact that when I get nauseated I start to worry that I will have to throw up.
Today, I got nauseated and brushed it off. But, then I started to get the tingles and my hair stood on end. That was when I realized that it was getting worse and started to worry. I was faced with the question I have run into quite a bit: do I or don’t I?
In researching and talking to other people with the same situation, I found that it really depends on the person. Sometimes, it can make you feel better. Other times, it might start a tirade you don’t know if you can finish. Biologically, both are bad for your body and equally. So, it essentially is a question of what you think your body is telling you and what you think is best.
I decided to go ahead and vomit, just to get it over with. I had a few things to do for work; but thought that, if I got it over with, I could concentrate more. Ultimately, I felt about the same. But, I was glad that I did it and got it over with. I knew that I wasn’t going to have to again and it was easier for me to focus on work.
So, if you’re wondering which is better, listen to your body. If you think you can hold off and that might be better, then do that. Some people have told me that it went away, for them. If you think just getting it done is best, then you might want to do that. But, your body will tell you what needs to happen. Listen to it. 🙂
