I hadn’t had pasta in twelve years. I saw all of the alternatives, but some just didn’t do it for me. Others contained ingredients I couldn’t have. And then I found this on the Walmart site! I was really excited by the fact that it only included Red Lentil flour and decided to try it.
I brought the water to a boil, before putting in the pasta. I’m a fan of cooking with broth, so I added a veggie broth powder to the boil before I put the fusilli in.
After I put in the pasta and let it boil a bit, I put in some tomato paste. I like to do this when the pasta is almost cooked. It makes the leftover water into a very light marinara sauce. I’m not a fan of complicated sauces and dishes, so I thought I would just use this and keep it simple.
I have to admit, it came out great! If you are a fan of pasta and a simple sauce, this will work for you. Of course, you can add other elements. I thought it might have been nice to put in mushrooms, olives, and some onion; but I couldn’t complain. It is pretty much like regular pasta,
This pasta didn’t make me sick, so I think that it should be alright for most people. I tend to have a problem with legumes, so if you do it may still work for you. I would say to try a little bit and keep some Sucralfate nearby. If you don’t get sick, go ahead and eat the rest. This is also Vegan and Vegetarian-friendly, since it literally only has Red Lentil flour.
